I decided to scrap my old paper based method and create a website for my own customers. I started researching companies that provided web site security. I came across a company called TeleSign who was very helpful in guiding me through the process. They set up a really ingenious way for me to track and verify the identity of my customers. It’s called two factor authentication which is a unique and totally secure way for me to make certain that the people I’m dealing with are legit. When someone registers on my website, they have to provide a phone number. Through TeleSign they are sent a special user code called a PIN and they are now required to enter that on their registration page. When I track this information, along with a copy of their photo ID, I have a fool proof method of protecting myself from would be thieves hoping to convert their copper into cash and leave me holding the bag! When I went back to court to have my probation hearing the judge was very impressed and reduced my term.
